Where are good sources to find information on these rifles and maybe buy them? How much is too much to pay for them?

edited for: How hard or easy is it to clean these puppies?

hbk,
well the mosins and sks are very cheap right now at
www.aimsurplus.com
www.southernohiogun.com
www.centerfiresystems.com
i think your like me, i am bout ready to die waiting on my c&r ffl, so i can go crazy and buy these, i love old military rifles, well the price will only go up in the future, i see the mosins being around for some time, but the sks i dont know, it will depend on alot of the sept awb that expires, but cleaninig these things(wow) be reay to set a free evening or two aside to get the cosmoline off of them, but once you do just sit back and behold the beauty of these babies,
later,
jon

I second the AIM source. I just did get a Yugo SKS from them for $140, out the door for a like-new rifle. While at the gunshow in Knoxville on Saturday,
I noticed some folks asking $250 for the same rifle.
:barf:

Some folks have gotten SKSs that were overgraded at Centerfire.

Wholesale Guns & Ammo and Cole Distributing are 2 excellent sources of both that grade pretty well.

I've ordered rifles from

AIM
Wholesale Guns and Ammo
Interordinance
SOG (Southern Ohio Guns)

I would order from all of them again. However, I have been especially happy with the service and quality received from AIM and Wholesale Guns and Ammo. Your mileage may vary, of course.

What is the benefit of having a C&R license? Will they just send the rifle right to your door or is there more benefit?

Yes, the rifles come direct to your door. There are plenty of C&R pistols out there, too.

Another benefit, if you want to call it that, is that every company that you send a signed copy of your C&R to, will send you their catalog. The downside is, so will a lot of companies that you've never heard of. But thats OK, its still fun to flip thru the pages and either drool over things you cant afford, or laugh at the outrageous prices (can someone please send Cabella's a wake-up call?).

SOG may be just a little generous in their grading of their rifles, BTW. Just so you know. And I dont think I would ever pay their handpick fee again.

BTW, if you purchase 2 or more C&R pistols, are you required to rat yourself out to the ATF? :D

No, but you must report it if you sell 2 or more to the same person in a five day period.

You must fill out and send in copies of the Report of Multiple Sale or Other Disposition of Pistols and Revolvers to the ATF, state or local police, and keep one for your own records.

You don't have to worry about ratting yourself out. The licensee you bought the guns from will handle that for you free of charge. :D
