Hello,

I received some 200 grain jacketed flat nose soft point bullets that I thought were 44 magnum. When I tried to load them into some prepped 44 magnum brass, they slid in very easily to the brass with way too much play. So I checked the diameter and they are .425 in diameter. I looked through my reloading manual and couldnt find any bullet with .425 diameter.

Anyone know round fits this bullet?

They were probably meant for .44-40, since there was much variation in bore size over the years. Most .44-40 bullets run .427", but some bores were on the small size. I've seen them .426", so that's close. My guess is they were made for an undersized bore in that caliber.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Thank you for the information fred.

Dang I have like 600 of these things, maybe I can find someone who wants to trade them for something else.
