Dude...you might want to consider getting some manuals. I like the free ones I get from the powder manufacturers. They're free and don't cost anything. Besides, there's no charge.

There are also a ton of sites, including the official Hodgden website that's been listed. It's also free.

13 grains for me is a great load for 44mag. Not that any of us do not mind you asking we all double check each other here for safety sake. But please oh please go out and get at least one loading manual.

Mavracer,

Yes I know this is an old post but I had to find it and pay it respect. The 10gr of HS-6 is now my range load. I am so pleased with this load very accurate and comfy to shoot.

This load according to the manuals is over 44special but not quite 44mag. I tried out 10 of them and was so pleased I loaded a batch of 250. I put 250 44mag rounds down range today and yes it was all in one session.

4 inch Ruger Redhawk
6 inch Taurus Raging Bull
Winchester 94AE Lever

Oh what a great day at the range today.

HS-6 load

What bullet did you use for this 10gr HS-6 load?
Lead? Jacketed?
What weight?

I have aquired an older can of Winchester 540 (which is now HS-6) and hate to throw it away!
Will use it in my 44 Mag with light load. May use it in my 41 and 357 Mag if I can come across the load data!

Tom

Old post, but my Nosler manual (20 years old) lists 10.0 - 12.0 HS-6 with a 240 grain JHP, 1.610" LOA, yields 1130 - 1230 fps.
