44 Magnum - confusion over Bullseye

That's what I found using Red Dot in .45 Colt (for a Ruger.) Above 8.0 grains, the recoil gets very nasty even though the muzzle velocity doesn't increase very much. So I load 7.5 grains and am very happy with it. If I want more power, I use a slower powder (like Herco or Blue Dot)

Your original question was you wanted to make some lighter loads using Bullseye, well, recoil is pretty harsh above 7.5gr and it's not a light load and felt recoil goes up dramatically after that.

You're right:)

What I really should have asked was "I have Bullseye and 2400 in the house, what are the appropriate ranges with 240 gr LSWC to make up loads from mild to wild so I can chrono them all in my new gun." That would have been a better question.

And it looks like the answer is 5.5 to 7 or 7.5 of Bullseye, and then 15 or 16 of 2400 up to the top. Does that sounds like a good ladder of charges? I understand that the high end Bullseye will be harsh, and that the low end 2400 will be inconsistent and dirty. I'm just trying to acclimate and figure out where my comfort zone is. From what I've read it sounds like Unique makes the best medium all-around loads, but I need to cook with what I have in the kitchen. Till I go out to the market for more ingredients:cool:
