Already have a 442-1, and I'm thinking of picking up a 640 steel J-frame .357.

I think the only difference is the 2-1/8" barrel of the 640 versus the 1-7/8" 442 barrel.

I think the 640 will work in my Yaqui, since barrel length shouldn't matter, right?

But I'm guessing there is a difference in a molded OWB belt slide with the 1/4" longer 640 barrel.

It's pretty cool to be able to use a holster for more than one gun.

At one point in time the magnum J frames
were different than the non-magnum.I
think the magnum frames were longer,at
some point smith started using the magnum
size frame for all calibers.Best thing i guess
is to test fit a magnum j frame in your own
holster. The pistol parlor in mesa has been
helpful with me in the past.

442-1 is built on the J-Magnum frame FWIW. Good to know it should fit. I'll check with holster companies to be sure if I buy a 640.

Thanks for the replies guys.
