Neither. I never understood rifle cartridges in a revolver. The X-frame chamberings are inefficient enough but at least they use the right powders. A .460 would make more sense but do you really need what it has over the .454?
Some of the responses don't make much sense. The .444 is not "rare" and brass is just as available as the .45/70. The .444 can utilize up to 405gr bullets. Unless you're hunting elephants with 500's, the .45/70's heavier bullets don't offer any added utility. As a deer/elk/moose/bear cartridge, either will do the job. If you're dead set on one of the two, I would look at what bullets will do what you need them to. Cast bullets are easy but if you're looking for high performance out of jacketed bullets, the .45-70 is either one extreme or the other.
But in all seriousness, I would go with the 444 Marlin, bass may cost more but it uses 44 mag/Spl bullets, and I could be mistaken, but IIRC the 444 Marlin is inch longer than the 44 mag.
