45-70 and 2400

I have used 28 grains of 2400 with the remington 405 soft point in my Ruger #1S. it does about 1550 fps and groups around 1.5 inches at 100 yards. since your rifle ain't as strong as the Ruger #1 I would definitely sneak up on this load. I like 2400 in the 45-70 because you can get a decent velocity (in my opinion) for less powder and that is less recoil. you are on your own

24 gr. of 2400 is my .45/70 range load with a 320 gr. cast bullet. I use a wad of dacron to keep the powder down near the primer.

I shoot a Ruger #1 and this is a load that I can stand for 20-30 rounds a session. It's accurate enough to ring the 8" metal disk at 100m every shot.
