A minor quandry for an H&R Moderator
MODERATOR INSERT:
I'm going to go ahead and post some criteria here in the midst of an on-topic discussion. Please bear with me.

snuffy makes a good point about the almost universally accepted axiom:
DO NOT USE SMOKELESS POWDER IN MUZZLE LOADING FIREARMS.
Mr.
snuffy cautions
lanenebraska about putting up the link he did, and suggests he might want to remove it, lest someone suffer a mishap and a lawsuit result.
Now, I'll admit that if Lane posted the same data on THR that he posted at shootersforum, I'd probably feel constrained to take some moderation-type action. Dunno what it'd be. (
Lane,
PLEASE don't do that, huh?)
As it is, the link is to another recognized board, and I must assume they have their own standards for posting loads. And, yeah, there are some few links we don't allow on THR, but these mostly pertain to truly offensive hate sites, porn, and such - - matters in bad taste AND way off topic for a shooting interest board.
The link supplied gives readers a place to go and look at a discussion. In his posting at shootersforum, Lane puts up a cautionary statement - - Not so strong as what we require at THR and TFL, but pretty noticeable. I'm going to leave it visible. I figure, nay,
I PRAY, that anyone contemplating similar experimentation will proceed with proper fear and trepidation. (If you follow that link, you'll notice that Lane used a LONG string to trigger those loads.)
I, as a staffer for this board, do NOT endorse the smokeless-in-a-muzzleloaderl practice. However, neither do I assume responsibility for trying to moderate another board.
And, yes, I'm familiar with loading smokeless into MANY
cartridges originally designed for black powder use. I do it every time I load .45-70 and .45 Colt. I simply believe there is a significant difference, which I don't have the metalurgical and engineering background to intelligently discuss.
Best to all.
