.45 ACP for CCW

Update:
After handling many different choices, I ended up taking home a Glock 36. I had ruled out Glock due to the fatness of the G30 and a horrible experience I had with the G36 I owned a few years ago. But...nothing else quite matched what I was looking for, so it's back to the dark side.

A nice older Colt Commander Lightweight is definitely high on my list, but the Glock should serve as a very nice carry piece for now.

Agreed. I looked at a couple of those Colts (same model, different vendors) recently. They were actually "no-frills" models, with standard thumb and grip safeties, but they did have sights you can see and (I assume because I didn't dry-fire them) good triggers, which are all you really need. 1911s in general are very slender and flat for their caliber.

How about a Sig Revolution C³?
That is a nice-looking gun and is ideally sized, but I've had too many problems with my Carry model to recommend Sigarms 1911s right now. If the replacement gun (that's how bad it was) is satisfactory I might change my mind.

hmmm... can you elaborate on what was wrong?
TIA

I was going to pick up a Springfiel GI for concealed carry at the gun show last weekend, but I didn't because the front sight is not dovetail type. This means in order to install night sights, I would have to have the slide modified. Too much for my pocketbook for now.
I'm trying to save up for a different Springfield now. I want to get the Loaded Ultra Compact with night sights. Here's a link: Springfield

Dont know how you feel about Ruger but dont discount the P345. Much much different than the other Rugers, thin, light, well balanced. I have one that I carry daily CCW. Have over 1k rds thru it with no problems, accuracy is great and recoil is mild
