Once a year, I switch ammo in my carry pistol. I then trot on over to my club and use up last years carry ammo and maybe a few more rounds of my reloads along with it. This is in addition to shooting the pistol at least once a month with my reloads.
Today was the day. Little did I realize when I went into my "old" ammo storage box that I had neglected to use up the ammo from last years change.
Oh well, someones gotta do it.
Carry pistol is a Kimber Compact Stainless II. Officers frame, Commander 4" barrel. Tritium nite sights & CT laser. Nice easy carrying, easily concealed and just a bit on the heavy (on the belt) side.
Most of the ammo was 230 gr +P hollow points. Reloads were 200 SWCs with 5 gr of Bullseye.
I mixed up all the ammo each time I loaded the magazine, intentionally to try to force a malfunction. Winchester, Federal, RP and reloads all functioned perfectly. No malfunctions, nothing but a lot of "CLANG" from the 6" steel disc at 50 yds at my range. Not every round but at least half. Mixed ammo included there.
There is no doubt that at 50 yds the pistol and the nut behind the trigger can hit a man sized target every time. - - - - Every time. Regardless of ammo.
More importantly, the pistol (now 8 years old) is reliable no matter what ammo I feed it. It is now a bit over 2000 rds down the spout with no malfunctions, failures, jams or problems, even from new.
I sure hope I never have to use it for the reasons I carry it.

Happy days to Y'all.
Roger
