Has enyone ever thought about making FAKE DeLisle carbines that anyone could own. You could make it look the same without having a real can. Also, with Enfields everywhere, it seems doable. Anyone want to chime in?
Sounds like a geat idea to me. Why not? There's already plenty of fake Enfields out there. Is there anything illegal about a rilfe that "looks supressed?"
Shouldn't be any problem with it. You'd have to have custom barrels cut, though. New extractors, new mag wells... It'd run a pretty penny to fix up a $140 rifle.
Someone turned a Reising SMG in to our P.D. in a bag of parts. Having only seen a couple and never even touched one before, it was an adventure for me that night to assemble the whole thing and get it running by morning, along with answering my calls. My chief, a good man but unfortunately misguided, registered it to the P.D. as LEO. Sigh. It had been papered for legal, free trade before. Another fun gun off the market. And in our little semi-rural community, it'll NEVER come out of the gun cabinet.
At least I got a few dozen rounds of .45 acp though it. (perfect functioning, and about NRA 90%. )
i got a chance to rent an HK USC .45ACP at a local range a while ago. it was a lot of fun to shoot and quite accurate. the sights are well above the bore line though, so at close ranges the POI changes just a tad. it has two different rear sights that you can flip back and forth from u-groove to ghost ring/peep sight. it has provisions for mounting scopes, red dots etc. the only downside to the gun is that you can only get 10 rounds mags for it. the bolt on it is very loud. you hear a loud "CLINK-CLINK" with every round from the bolt slamming back and forth. it has an AR-15 type bolt release on the side along with the traditional cocking lever on the front upper left of the forearm. and of course its very cool to get to do the "HK Slap". the ambi safety it not in a very good position though. it hits the top of your shooting hand and is kind of uncomfortable. but the best part is of course that, ITS AN H&K! and those are just plain cool.
My brother has one and he loves it. I personally thing that asking a .45acp to do all that work is hard but his seems to work just fine. And, since it's a pistol round, he can shoot it at any indoor range.
Here's a great link for modified Enfields: Armalon
They offer rifles in 9mm, .38 Super, .40S&W, 10mm and .45Acp. Magnum calibers available are 357 and .44 Mag, as well as .41Mag and .50AE for special orders. Good looking stuff.
Mech Tech makes a "Carbine Conversion Unit" for the 1911. It's a
barrel, bolt and stock that receives your 1911 frame, secured by your slide stop lever. The barrel is quite good, claimed to be match quality, and a picatinny rail is attached to the forestock. I use a red dot sight on mine and it's super accurate out to 75 yards. The CCU (without red dot) is a bit more than $300, and a lot of fun to shoot.
