.45 ACP +P in a Kahr/Thompson M1927A1?

Greetings!

Is it safe to fire +P rated ammo out of the Kahr/Auto Ordnance Thompson SMG semi-auto clones?

I am thinking the hot DoubleTap ball load (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=475521) would be quite peppy out of my Tommy's 16" barrel. For reference in a 5" barrel, this load indicates roughly 200 fps highly velocity than standard ball.

Does anybody shoot JHP or FMJ flat nose out of their Thompsons?

You may have some feeding problems. I had to polish my feed ramp for reliable feeding of round nose bullets.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I tend to stay away from really hot loads. I have heard about several Ka-Booms that seemed to stem from them. If I want that much more power, I'll just buy another caliber and be safe.
