None of my manuals mention plated bullets. Ranier's website says use lead bullet data. The following is for lead bullets.
Speer manual, 200 grain lead SWC: 4.9 grains to 5.4 grains Unique.
Lyman manual, 200 grain cast: 5.0 grains to 7.5 grains Unique.
Hercules manual, 200 grain lead SWC: 5.1 grains Unique.
The last batch I shot with the 200 grain plated SWC, I used 6.3 grains Unique. That load exceeds Speer's maximum load data but I saw no signs of excessive pressure.
I just got off the phone with Ranier. They said the recommended loads for the 200 grain SWC plated 45 ACP and Unique powder are 4.9 grains powder to 7.5 grains powder.
Because of the disparity between the published load figures I wanted to know if anybody here had a preferred load.
