I've got a box of cast bullets that are labled 230 grain round nose. I'm looking at the Winchester reloading guide and it has a row for 230 gr Lead RN. Is this the same. There is a category for 200gr Lead Cast SWC which makes me wonder if cast has it's own row for all for all types.

Lead me in the right direction, please!

RN is an abreviation for Round Nose. SWC is short for Semi-Wad Cutter. If I understand the second question, then yes, lead bullets will have seperate load data from jacketed bullets.Lead bullets are usually loaded slower than jacketed bullets to hold down barrel leading. Also, lead bullets are usually less accurate at higher velocity, IIRC.

The main reason for the different loading data for lead and jacketed bullets of the same weight is pressure. The materials and construction of the bullets produce different pressures with the same amounts of the same powders, so the max loads will differ, as will the velocities. The maximum loads are determined by the pressure that the load generates. Leading is mainly a concern with very high velocities (rifle velocities, for example), hotter, faster powders, and very soft alloys (e.g. swaged pure lead).
