It's a good thing I started with 100. Just finished loading 45s. 4 die Lee with RCBS Rocka My Chucker. I had 25% of me brass distort. If it doesn't fit in the Wilson tester it goes to hammer time inertia bullet puller. I have not had this happen in the past. Usually I start with 100 I finish with 96~99, not 70ish.

One more thing loaded a few smaller primer 45 acp , Speer book says go for it just separate it if your doing bullseye shooting. Used small pistol, has anyone tried sm.pist. Mag primer

It sounds like your crimp die is set way too deep in the press if you're buckling cases. When I start with 100 cases I finish with 100 rounds of ammo.

As for small primers in 45 ACP cases. There is no difference in accuracy or performance between small and large primer brass. No need to segregated the two when shooting and they is no reason to use a magnum primer either.

I agree with ArchAngelCD. Another place to check would be proper flaring at the case mouth, which might cause distortion or even crushing during seating if it's not wide enough on all cases. Also, if you're using mixed brass, check that the case lengths are not too far different, especially if you're crimping.

Once you get everything setup right, you should expect nothing short of a 100% success rate.

I'm in the process of swapping out all of my .45 ACP LPP's for SPP's. They shoot the same, and I don't have to have 2 different pistol primers sitting around. I've also noticed out here that the LPP's are harder to come by than the SPP in this current market and craze.

If you can find SPP easier than LPP I think you would be the only one. SPP are much more rare than LPP because they are used in the 9mm. (much like SRP are hard to find because they are used in the 223/5.56mm)
