Recently going through a box of 45 auto brass that was given to me and came accross a few that had small primers and two small flash holes , obvious they can't be reloaded because of no flash hole in the center but was wondering if anyone has seen this before. Don't have them in front of me at the moment so can't tell you how they are stamped. Thanks for any help.

You have brass that is Berdan primed.
Could be CCI Blazer aluminum, or some foreign stuff.

Thanks RC , I am sure it is not CCI Blazer Aluminum , must be foreign? I'll have to look at stamping when I get home. I love this place , lots of great information, I am adicted.

Berdan primed .45 acp ammunition using small primers has been common in Europe for many years. If it's brass, recycle it. Even if it's Blazer aluminum, you can recycle it.

If the small primer brass isn't Berdan, then it's most likely Non-Toxic ammunition from CCI, Federal or Winchester. I haven't seen any from Remington using small pistol primers, but I do have some from the other three companies. Some will also be crimped, so be sure to watch for that, too.

Hope this helps.

Can't seem to figure out the headstamp. It is marked FN , .45 and 55 all evenly spaced around the bottom spaced 120 degrees apart. The .45 is obviously the caliber , would FN be the Mfg. and 55 the date? Thanks for any help. I have tried to find a picture to ID it but can't find one. I have enclosed a picture , sorry it's not the best but you can see the markings. Thanks.

Yes, FN (Fabrique Nacional) (sp) is the manufacturer, and 1955 was the year it was made. This is common FN headstamping, though a lot of them don't include the caliber.

Hope this helps.

Eventually you'll run into the small primer boxer .45ACP "WinNT" or equiv from Federal and CCI. It's their lead free primers and a PITA in my Dillon.

I don't understand why they did this, malice toward reloaders?

It reloads fine with a small pistol primer.
