I am new to reloading the and am wondering why there is a difference in bullet diameters. I have seen .451, and .452. Can both be loaded in the 45 ACP?

Thanks

Jacketed and most plated bullets are sized .451" and some plated along with most lead bullets are sized .452" ( you can get lead bullets sized larger but .452" sizing is typical).

Typically from what I read, the .452 bullets go in .45 Long Colt. I use .451 Hornaday RN or XTP (one usually goes on sale and cheaper than the other).

Lead bullets are generally .001 bigger than FMJ. The real way to know if a bullet diameter is appropriate for a given gun is to slug the barrel, however, if you aren't going for bench rest accuracy, or if you aren't trying to troubleshoot an accuracy problem, and if you aren't casting and sizing your own bullets, you can usually bypass that step.
