I am loading for a Uberti Cattleman 7.5". I worked up a load 5.5 gr Bullseye under 230 gr Hornady swaged LRN. I found it pleasant shooting with acceptable accuracy. I recently purchased some 225 grain FP cast bullets from SNS casting. I have read in other postings that if a bullet is not listed, it's recommended to go with the charge for next heavier bullet. Would anyone with experience have an idea of what I could expect if I load these 225 gr cast bullets over 5.5 gr of Bullseye. Thanks in advance. Joe

A mild-shooting plinking, informal target and small game round. The SNS cast are harder than the Hornady but that won't make much difference. I tend to prefer Red Dot and Unique but Bullseye is a fine powder for .45Colt and 5.5gr. is right in starting load territory, for me. I expect you to be very happy with it.

I see no issues with what You are doing. My favorite Colt 45 powder is Herco 8.0 gr under 250 gr cast Bullet. . Followed by Unique. Most loads I have tried are very forgiving on any Bullet from 215-250 gr.
Main reason for liking the Herco is The Wife shot it and said it kicked no more than Her 38. Sooooo … it became My go to load.
Have also True Blue, W231, Titegroup and N340
All perform fine.
As I said. The Colt has been a very easy and forgiving load to play with.

Your logic is sound. Just make sure that the crimp grove to base measurement is similar and won’t change case capacity.
