Just skimmed over a quick article on the magazine rack at the store in Shooting Times about that new Taurus Tracker in .45 Colt/.410. As I expected, he did a pattern at 3,6,9, and 12 feet and by 12 feet there wasn't much 7 1/2 shot showing in a 40" circle by the looks of it and certainly not on the human torso outline he was shooting at. It would be worthless on any game, maybe as a snake gun, but I've never had a problem hitting a snake's head even with my .22 NAA mini at the ranges this thing is "effective" at. He said something about loading a .410 as the first round followed by .45s for home defense. Lame, IMHO. I want that first one to HURT! I want it to STOP if at all possible. I'll stick with my .38 and I have .45s available if I wanna up size.
20 yards the writer says he can put 225 grain JHPs into 2". Better accuracy than I figured with all the freebore, but nothing to write home about. I think I can definitely live without this one. I have a TC .410/.45 colt that is neat outdoors and I've used for both small game and deer hunting, but it has a choke on a 10" shotgun barrel.
Anyone think of anything this gun could be useful for that something else couldn't do better???? I fail to see the possibilities here, I reckon.
