so guys i am loading 380 and today got some hp-38 and i noticed some info on using hp-38 in 45 colt and i load and shoot this grand old cartridge and normally i use 6.8gr greendot and cast a 250gr lead bullet out of my lyman single cavity 454190. so having never tried this anyone else use hp-38 in their 45 colt loads?

I used to use nothing but W231/HP-38 in the 45 Colt and I was very happy with the results. Then I tried HS-6 in the 45 Colt and stuck with it.

If you have HP-38/W231 there is no reason in the world not to use it to load the 45 Colt and do it well. My favorite load with that powder is a 250/255gr cast bullet over between 7.0gr and 7.3gr depending on the company who made the bullets. With a 255gr LSWC from MBC I charge 7.3gr for a good accurate load in my revolvers.
