Does anyone make a .45 caliber handgun bullet of the swaged SWC-HP variety, preferably around the 250 grain mark? I'd like something in the vein of the classic .38 158-gr LSWC-HP produced by a number of companies or the .44 240-gr LSWC-HP that Hornady makes. I think it would make a good defensive/utility load for original-spec .45 Colt ammunition.

Not that I'm aware of.
Swaged bullets are almost the universal domain of the big bullet manufactures like Hornady & Speer.

The little custom bullet casters probably just can't justify the swaging equipment payback time.

And I do agree it would be a good idea.

I swage my own 45acp bullets into SWC HP

Start with a cast H&G 130 on the right, swaged SWCHP on the left

Well, I made my own press and modified a set of Richard Corbins dies to do the HP.

Swage press is on the right, Lee classic cast is there for reference

The bullets in the pic above are hard cast commercial bullets so yes Im sure it could do the Missouri

Here is another example, a Lyman 225gr rn formed into a 225 swc

When you change the shape a lot (like a HP) it takes more pressure, harder alloy, more pressure, larger caliber, more pressure.

No I dont think a rockchucker would handle it. If youre comfortable with putting a 2ft handle on it, and putting all your body weight into it, with it not breaking anything then probably, but from others experience something will let go before you get that far

STAR used to manufacture a 185 gr. LSWCHP which was a favoriye with the bullseye pistol crowd. Unfortunately STAR is no longer in business.

I'll just stick with my cast HP's, thanks.
