I assume I can use 45 colt dies to load 454 casull. Do I just back out the fine tuning part on the seating die or the entire die?

I haven't personally done what you're inquiring about, but if I did, I would first make sure the 45lc die is deep enough to resize 454, other wise you'll have a problem with them wanting to fully chamber, or have problems with extraction. Stiff extraction can make it difficult to read pressures.

As far as the seating die, just adjust it as you would for any cartridge as follows:

Place a resized piece of brass in the shell holder, extend the ram to full extension, thread the entire die down until it makes contact with the case mouth, fine tune the crimp by threading the entire die up or down, once you get seating depth adjusted.

Thanks. I thought of the backing the die out after I posted this. I don't have a lot of brass and didn,t want to waste any of it.
