"7.5 Red Dot/250 bullet sounds about like hitting a bowling ball with your fist."
The recoil with this load in a 92 rifle is non existent.
Lyman shows safe max with this powder /bullet/primer combo at 9.3 grains.
I have gone as far as 8.5 grains in the Rossi Rifle but accuracy went out the window.
7.5 gr Red Dot in this combo puts 3 out of 3 bullets within an inch group at 50 yds.
This load and 11.1 grains of power pistol which I have loping along at 1330 fps out of the Rossi rifle are my two most accurate and CLEAN burning loads.
Using IMR 4227 at 23.0 grains brings another 70 fps and a lot of crud in the barrel ;for double the powder charge; not very economical for this slight gain.
For +P loads Power Pistol is the way to go in 45 colt IMHO.
Blue Dot and HS 6 gave me crud and less performance than Power Pistol.
Mind You I don't recommend any of these loads to others, these are just my experiences and those who should copy these loads due so at their own risk.
Kind Regards
Doc.

coop2564.....I went and shot some loads I worked up Saturday. 1st up was H110 26gr with 250gr xtp. Wow the lady next to me actually let out a little screem...quite a handful. She said she could shoot while I was testing that one. accuracy was good ( for me anyway) about about 4" freehand at 20yds. Next up 23.5 lil gun same round and pretty much same results, very powerful with plenty of kick and about 3.5'' group avg. 24gr of lil gun about 4" group. Then 21gr of IMR 4227 and bingo 2.5'' group very manageable, then 21gr 4227 with a LBT 265gr hardcast 2.750" avg for 6 shots. Not real sure what my velocity is but really enjoyed shooting both loads using 4227. Came home and loaded some more at 21.5 and 22 to try this week. any guesses on what my velocity would have been? What little bit of data I have found I'm guessing in mid 1000 out of my 4 5/8". For whitetail and hog that should be deadly using that LBT hardcast.

have you checked the throats on your Blackhawk?.....take a .452 bullet and drop it in the cylinder as loadin' a shell if it won't push threw with little pressure your throats are to tight......my 4 5/8" BK went from 3" groups at 25y to cloverleafs after i cut the throats........

I had a Ruger BlackHawk in .45Colt w/4-5/8"bbl.
With the Hornady 250gr XTP I used the Nosler recommended max load (AND ACCURACY LOAD) of 20.0gr of #2400. (actually 19.8 as thrown by powder measure) for around 1,150fps.
This will do most anything you really want to do with a handgun. It's been very accurate through every .45lc I've shot it through. It shoots to 2moa with a Win. M94 Rifle w/24"bbl at 100yds..... and gets 1,750fps from the rifle.
It shot some 1-hole groups for 5-shots from a 5.5" Redhawk at 25yds....
It's so good, I've never pursued H110 or Lil'Gun from the .45LC.
