I spent a while searching through the archives for a load for punching paper at 10 to 15 yards using Bullseye powder (it is what I have on hand for my .45 ACP and .38 Spl. reloads) with a Missouri Bullet 200 grain RNFP and wanted to thank all who share their experience.
These were my first .45 Colt reloads for my new 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk Convertible and I loaded up ten each in 4.0, 4.5, and 6.0 grain loads and twenty in 5.0 grains. They all worked well with the 4.0 a bit too light and the 6.0 approaching more serious business.
The 5.0 grain Bullseye load with the Missouri Bullet 200 grain RNFP using a good crimp in the groove was exactly what I was looking for. They hit right were I was aiming and had just the right amount of punch for an enjoyable day putting holes in paper out in the woods. I think that load will be a nice introduction for friends firing a .45 Colt single action revolver for the first time. They are just a tad bit sooty, but I will probably still have a big grin on my face while cleaning up the Ruger.
I certainly can see Unique and Trail Boss in my .45 Colt reloading future, but for now I could not be more satisfied. Thanks again to all who generously share their boolit knowledge and experience with us noobs. Thanks also to Missouri Bullet Company for a great product promptly shipped at a very reasonable price.
