With my fellow members' understanding that I have never owned a Glock or an H&K, I have been carrying a 1911 (or variant of such as an Officers Model)) for most of my adult life. I have rarely found one especially difficult to conceal nor inconvenient to carry with premium leather (no shortcuts on belt and holster). As far as weight is concerned I as well find the mass of the sidearm in a word.. re-assuring. The last place one needs a lightweight sidearm is in the "heavyweight" environment of self defense.
So while one may opt for paper or plastic at the grocery, when it comes to a good sidearm make mine steel please.

Out of those 3 production guns, if I had to pick one that I could trust straight out of the box, it would be the USP45f.

I can't conceal a USP45f, but have no problem concealing a Gov't or Commander, so I guess I would have to vote for the Colt. Of course, that Colt would have to prove itself to me first. Shooting 500 rounds straight with no problems would help...

My vote was for the 1911, have carried open and concealed comfortably. If there was an "other" option, I would note the Sig p220 and Sig p220 Carry over the HK and Glock.

All of those are safe to carry with a loaded chamber. In fact, any gun of modern design is safe to carry with a loaded chamber, anyone who tells you different doesn't understand how guns work.

I chose you an HK USP because it is the most expensive, if you're planning on a super-duper custom 1911 that is more expensive than an HK, get that instead.

Out of the choices provided, I chose the 1911 because of the thin slide and frame. I have the G21 and a few 1911's. I love my G21, but that thing is a little big for me to conceal. My EDCs are my G30 & G36, though.

The single stack 1911 works best for me, from those three choices. The weight issue is mainly a mental thing for me - so I dropped 5 - 10 pounds from my gut and a 5" steel frame 1911 feels lots better.

Except for the first 9 months (probation period) of my LEO career I carried one model of Colt 1911 or other until retirement. I continued to carry them and do so today. See no reason to stop now unless the arthritis in my hands gets much worse. Dang I hate getting old and falling apart! (LOL)

For concealed carry, the 1911.All three are excellent pistols, but the USP and G21 are huge pistols, not easy to conceal well or carry concealed comfortably.
The G21 has a large grip, most folks find it too fat in the grip area,if you have hands that can fit well great.
The USP has a better grip in terms of size for most.
The 1911 is slim and most find the grip fits them well, while a full size 1911 is a large pistol, its not as large as the G21 or USP.The G21 and USP would be better for exposed carry or a uniformed officer with the proper holster and heavy duty belt to carry such a load. The G21 carries alot of rounds and this increases weight along with spare mags.1911 mags are slim and compact compared to the other two choices.I vote 1911.

Another vote for giving the SIG P220 a long hard look. I easily carry my west German P220 IWB in a Theis horsehide/kydex holster. A good holster and belt go a long way in allowing someone to carry a large gun discretely for long periods of time.
