45 G.A.P..........Will it amount to anything??

CAn the GAP use the same range of bullet weights and types that the ACP does?
Yes the 45gap can use the same bullet weights. However it requires +P pressures to achieve .45ACP velocities.

A. You can shoot .45 GAP through a 625 revolver, if you use full moon clips. Like shooting .38 in a .357.
B. For Carpal Tunnel syndrome patients, like myself; GAP gives the same wallop that ACP does with reduced kick.
As been pointed out this is n't true. It's not like shooting the lower power .38 special in a .357 Magnum. For the same velocities you have the same recoil. The only advantage to shooting .45gap in a .45ACP revolver would possibly be slightly faster reload times.

I will have another wasted type of brass to pick out of the range brass I reload, so I will be throwing away a few pieces of .45 CRGap along with the .40 CrS&W brass I now throw away.

Other than as a trash can filler I can't see any purpose for it.

:D

I love .45 acp, but I want the GAP to succeed too.

Did .44 magnum replace .44 special? Did .45 acp replace .45 Colt?

NO. The British used .455 Webley for many years, it was smaller than .45 acp; just as potent.

It's MASS that make .45-caliber pistols work so well. From .45 LC to .45 acp to .45 GAP, they are all great manstoppers. You knock a .45 caliber hole into something, chances are it's either dead or screaming for the emergency room.

The .45 GAP works in .45 acp revolvers, that use full moon clips. A person with carpal tunnel syndrome or severe arthritis could use a set up for defence; recoil would be reduced, due to the lighter weight bullet.

I'm cruising for an auto pistol this, got $570.00 saved up; there's a gun store in St. Albans that looks highly promising(year round lay away, I'll check the prices and report back).

I agree with the person/ persons who said Gaston Glock just wanted a caliber with his name on it.

He Orignally wanted the round to be called the ".45 Glock" If you notice on some of the original rounds it has .45 Glock printed on it, the new rounds say .45GAP

I think it's popularity will be about the same as the .357 sig. It might be a good round but 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP fill about any need.

Actually .45 GAP/ACP Pressures & Performance are Identical

The whole "boast" by Glock et. al. re: the .45 GAP V. the ACP is size. Same performance in a smaller package...period.

Ergo, the Springfield smaller package to that end, and putting the GAP in the Glock 17, 22 sized pistols but without sacrificing .45 ACP's performance.

My question is, why do we neeed another low-pressure 45? We already have one...the ACP...maxs out at about 24,000 CUP (copper under pressure).

For my likes, I would prefer to keep to the larger size pistols, take the .454 Cassull and shorten it to fit in a 1911 or Glock. NOW, that would be a worthy cartridge...loaded to 60,000 CUP.

For my part, I would not buy a .45 GAP. The loads (capacity in magazines) is identical to the .45 ACP, and so there is, as I said, and as they have been presented only one advantage...size.

The XD-45LE 4" is my primary carry now. Here's how it came about. I carried a 1911 for years but found it just a bit too large in certain situations. I considered a smaller 1911 but in the meantime would just carry my wife's XD9. I loved the way it fired, fit in the hand and just about everything about it but was obviously uncomfortable with going with a 9mm. Nothing against it but would rather have a .45 given the choice. Well, about that time I heard that the .45 GAP was about to be released and I decided to check it out.

At $429 for the intro package (free holster and box of ammo) I decided to take the risk. I have not been disappointed. The recoil was a bit on the sharp side and took a bit to adjust to but other than that same feel and reliability as the 9. The additional advantage has been that we can trade off accessories, holsters, etc. I love going to the shop and picking up a new tac-light for the wife cause sooner or later....well you know.

Hope so. I have 2 Glocks in this caliber. I like the frame size better than the Glock 21 and 30. Once I get a decent holster for my 38, I'm going to carry that most, I believe.

Well, I don't know as to whether it's going to amount to anything or not .... buuuuut ... if CZ makes the 75B in .45GAP, I WILL try it. I loved my Witness .45ACP but it was just too large to easily conceal. My 75B, however, conceals with just a little effort. And I can't think of a thing wrong with .45 in such an ergonomic package as the 75.

Just my opinion.

:banghead:
Now that's a convoluted statement. Bordering on falsehood.

However the truth is a bit more simple;

When the velocities are the same (with identical bullet weights) the .45 GAP is operating at higher pressures.

When the pressures are the same (with identical bullet weights) the .45ACP achieves a higher velocity.

Now I ain't saying that the .45 Gaston won't be successful.
And I ain't saying that is doesn't have good uses.

But you can't say the cartridges are identical except for length because they aren't.

I'd bet the GAP already outsells their 10mm model. That probably isn't much but there are so many Glocks sold, it can probably survive at low sales numbers anyway. Gaston is making so much money, he could keep it going even if they sold 10 guns a year. I imagine the 'board of directors' meetings are pretty short since he owns it. ;)

I believe you can still buy 38-40, 44-40 ammo so I think the GAP will be around a long time I suspect.
