I got a box of Buffalo .457 conical pistol bullet to try out in my Remington 1858. They cost $9.59 per box and have 50 per box. They also come with wads. Loading was easy. They had a reduced heel on they and fit into the chambers very well. I pushed them in until it hit the end of the heel and finished with the loading lever. The Remingtons have plenty of of room for loading conical bullets. All of them loaded straight in with no problems. Bullets are 190 gr. Fouling seemed to increase using these rounds. The barrel had more fouling in it after shooting than round balls.
Loads:
30 gr. Goex BP
#10 CCI caps
Used included wads
No grease over the chamber
20 Yards distance
Accuracy was pretty decent. I kept a pretty good group with the first two cylinders, with a couple off, but that was probably me. The third cylinder was not so good. I was not able to group them at all and only hit it 4 times. The fouling really affects the conicals badly. The numbers on the target shows what cylinder load I was shooting, 1 being the first cylinder full. Overall I like them, but at $9.59 per box, I wouldn't buy them all the time.
Sorry this pic is a little blurry, but the camera batteries died and I couldn't take another.
