45acp bullet choices for accuracy

In regards to the 45, or any pistol for that matter, do you find a certain profile to be more accurate. Such as hollow point, truncated flat point, round nose, etc?
I haven't shot competition or as many rounds as some here, but I've run enough down range to determine a few accurate loads.

My most accurate loads usually are with the HG 68, 78, and 130.

I have shot quite a bit of jacketed in both the round nose 230's and other weight JHP'S, but not nearly as many as my home cast. My most shot HP is from the MP 452-200 mold,

This little guy really shines over a 4-6gr dose of several fast powders, but is usually loaded over 4.2 - 4-5gr of Bullseye.

The bottom line is, your loads are going to shoot the best if tailored to your pistol, and your shooting style and skills. Most factory pistols are capable of shooting very accurate but like anything else in this arena, they will like a couple of things better than the rest.

I'm at Atterbury now and look a walk down the line. You can pretty much sum it up as :

185gr lead SWC HP
185gr SWC
185gr JHP
200gr SWC

There is more variety at the short line (25y), but accuracy isn't the same issue there.

I mostly shoot 185gr coated SWC in my 1911's, pretty accurate if I'm on my game.

But my most accurate is Speer 185gr TMJ's, extremely accurate in my guns. I have a few hundred left, but haven't been able to find any more for about three years.

185gr lead SWC HP

I have used, seen, or at least heard of all the others mentioned, but a lead hollow point on targets is new to me.
Why? It has to be a bear to cast or is somebody selling them in bulk?

I have shot two brands of very accurate commercial cast bullets. Both companies are out of business.

I know that the MP molds usually just rain bullets when you have them up to temp, I use quite a few of them for HP'S in multiple calibers and profiles. He also makes this one as well,
MP 452-185 SWC HP PB 4 Cavity

I could only add that pouring these with a pure + some added tin should give you a pretty darned close match to the Zero's.

Also there are these which almost have to be using a similar to or same MP mold as above only in conventional lube,

In the 45 acp for accuracy I like the Lyman #452460 , 200 gr. SWC ... always been accurate in the 45's I've owned . It is a duplicate of the H&G design #130 , 200 gr. SWC .
Get a bullet mould and make them yourself !

H&G #34 230grn HC RN loaded over Bulleye. Mine are coated boolits which reduces leading of the barrel appreciably.

About 4.9-5.0 grns of Bullseye replicates Mil-spec 230grn ball velocity. This load, from various .45s (1911s, S&W 645), is very accurate.
