Been looking for some info on reloading 45LC 230gr JHP (Sierra bullets), but have only come up with...

Blue Dot 11.5gr or Titegroup 6.0 gr

Does anyone have anyother info...looked in the few books / internet and its all I came up with..

thanks

First thing you need to let us know is what you are planning on shooting it in. Most reloading manuals list loads for older, weaker actions and another set of loads for Ruger blackhawk/redhawk/TC Contenders.

There is a lot of data available online at the various powder manufacturers websites as well.

using a Uberti 45LC...been shooting at a lower level for powder charges....does this help?....

Try Trail Boss.

Bullet: 230 GR. Cast LRNFP Dia. .452" COL: 1.580"
Trail Boss 5.5 685 9,100 PSI 6.5 802 12,400 PSI

------------------------------------------------

Bullet: 250 GR. Cast LRNFP Dia. .452" COL: 1.600"
Trail Boss 4.5 606 8,800 PSI 5.8 727 12,700 PSI

This is direct from IMR's web site. I use about 5.0 gr under a 250 gr cast lead bullet for a great easy shooting load. Visit their web site to check it out.

The Uberti would require the lower power loads meant for the older manufactured firearms and Colt SAA.

Try here..

Just make sure you are not using data for the Rugers or T/C contender. Your Uberti is not designed to handle those pressures. You may also want to look into buying a couple of reloading manuals. They are a great source of info.

Loads for Colt SAA or Older

This information is for general reference only! Do not use this (or other information from the Internet) without researching with a Sierra Manual, first! See edition V for recent information. There's lots of great manuals for reference, Lyman, Sierra and others.

These are recommended for Sierra #8820 240 gr. JHC ONLY. Whatever you would load for 230 gr. would be lighter loads and not work with these numbers. These are for a Colt Single Action.

240 gr. 'Unique' 7.7 to 9.2
240 gr. 'Bulleye' 6.0 to 7.5
240 gr. 'Red Dot' 6.1 to 7.6
240 gr. 'Green Dot' 6.9 to 8.4

Maximum Charge for each is indicated in Red. Start with a lower amount and gradually work your way up to any maximum charge listed.
