I finally located a S&W .460 PC Hunt 10.5" to complement my two .500's, and was looking at adding a scope to take full advantage of its flat shooting, long distance accuracy.

I was considering buying a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8X as I have one on my SRH .44 and it has held up great over a few thousand rounds, but was wondering if anyone has used one with good result on a .460 since it will kick a bit more. If not would you recommend I stick with a fixed power Leupold or something else.

Also what brand/height of rings are you using on the PC guns? My friend went through several sets of rings on his 460 before finally giving up on optics. Then again he was using ~$30 rings each time.

Thanks for the help.

I have a Bushnell 3200 on my BFR in 500. I used some mounts and rings by weaver. Holds tite and looks good.

460, 8 3/8" barrel, warn mount, millet rings, same scope as you suggested, at least 450 rds, no problem yet
