What do you get when you put a bunch of soldiers, lots of pyro that isn't on the property book, and a stereo on an outpost in the middle of iraq, with no other US forces (read: field grade officers) for miles?

A 4th of july celebrated entirely with star clusters, parachute flares, and non alcoholic beer. Tracers into the test fire berm were also present. Ahh.... celebratory gunfire

I didn't get up here to wish y'all a happy fourth, so here it is now. Happy fourth. Hope y'all crack open a beer for me.

Sounds like a good time. Happy belated Fourth, I will crack open a beer just for you. Be safe and God bless.

Be sure to clean up afterward

If you respect the land it will go a little better with the natives. Don't leave it trashed.

I spent the 4th of July (1992) in Bahrain at the ASU. This was just after the first Gulf War. I didn't have as much fun as you, but there was some pretty cool stuff on some of the Navy ships. Didn't get to shoot anything though.

Fourth of July.... in Iraq?

hopefully you videotaped yours for future generations.

up here in the north we fired mortars and artillery, of course we had loads of vietnam era ammo sitting around and the perfect excuse to waste it.

then the bang bangs let off their 203's and parachute flares. we had to stop when some choppers thought we were in a firefight, also worked as a demonstration of force for haiji, no mortars have been fired at us for three days now. (all the HE went to fields near where they like to shoot from.)

now what to with the ammo they gave us to replace what we shot? (we're estimating maybe early veitnam at the youngest. Curse whoever brought over the old ammo!)
