5.45 Russian in 60 gr

I have a Lancaster built AK 74 with bulgarian barrel that shoots really good with the surplus Russian 5.45 in 53 gr FMJ. It groups about 3 inch at 100 yrds on sandbag rest slowfire. I think it has a 1:8 twist.

Has anyone tried using 60 gr on their AK 74s? Were they as accurate as the 53 gr?

I've got two bulgys which really shoot the best with 60gr. commercial. Don't know the twist rate though both are military barrels. The sar2 I have performs about equal with both weights and is far less accurate than the 74's. This rifle I re-barreled with a virgin rommie surplus barrel because it shot a triangular shaped pattern of around 14" out of the box at 50yds.
I read reports of some folks claiming the 53gr. as best but I don't see it from where I sit with my rifles. YMMV from mine. The surplus shoots great but the pattern opens with a few more flyers than the commercial. You're getting groups with 53 that I get with 60. Go figure.

Silver Bear, Wolf MC, Golden Tiger 60 fmj shoot just as well or better than 7N6, in my experience.
