Just a quick question, did a quick search and didn't see an immediate answer

Can I reload 5.56 brass to .223 loads to be used in a AR .223?

I have seen threads where it is not recommended to shoot 5.56 through a .223 but can I reload it then shoot it?

Thanks

Yes.

The 5.56 case has very little to do with anything.
5.56 NATO is loaded to higher pressure then .223 commercial is all.

You use .223 reloading dies to reload both .223 and 5.56 NATO.

Military 5.56 brass may be heavier, and have less case capacity then commercial .223 brass.
But not always.

Just use .223 data and work up from the suggested starting load in your manual.

GI brass does have crimped in place primers and the crimp has to be removed before you can re-prime them either by reaming or swaging the crimp out.
