i was bored, so we went up to the lake with the Savage .30-06, the Mosin M-38, the SKS, and the mossburg 12 gauge. stoped by safeway and grabbed afew head-sized pumkins on the way. when we set them up, we cut them open and filled them with water before taping the top back down. we were supprised that they didnt appear to be all that damaged after 20 rounds of .30-06 to the first pumkin at 100 yards, but when we walked down to it, the back was gone! just lil' bits of orange mist everywhere behind it. the Mosin did the same at the same distance. SKS at 50 yards wasnt very effective, but after two 70 round bandoliers and a bayonet charge another orange menace bit the dust. the Mossburg was vicious at 15 feet with 000 buckshot. the 3-inch deer slug at 75 yards was the best, as it vaporised the last pumkin and rained orange bits EVERYWHERE. no pics though, cause i forgot to bring the camera :(:banghead:

now i wanna try this with a .50BMG :what:

The National Vegetable and Fruit Rights League is demanding the death penalty for killing innocent pumpkins.

squash isn't food. food tastes good! :D

Javilina seem to like to eat them so everyone wins! im entertained for a morning and the animals get a free buffet!

KiltedClaymore, surely you know why the have Marines on Navy Vessels. It's because sheep would be too obvious! :D

Couldn't resist. No offense to our honored Marines.

But it is funny. :neener:

Hi KiltedClaymore,

squash isn't food. food tastes good!

In that case I pity you, it's obvious you have never had the blessing of being associated with a competent cook. What a pity. Please have your wife e-mail me and I'll send her my recipes for pumpkin pie and acorn squash dishes.

Someday, should you ever find yourself in an area where food is real and not the product of some cartoon character, I hope you are serve crookneck squash flour coated and fried in butter until a golden brown. Until then, you have my utmost pity.

an 8 bore would be interesting to use for pumpkin hunting as well...

selena, im 17 so i have no wife. depending on your geographic location, im guessing you have never had the experiance of eating grilled cactus? i find it to taste fine, but others seem to shun it like i do squash. living in AZ my whole life, squash is not common on ANY menu. and were you implying that arizona doesnt have real food? quite the contrary. wait, rotgut wiskey and snakes count as "real" food, right?

I just laughed when I read "bayonet charge." That would really suck nowadays though, have an officer yell "Fix bayonets." Everyone would just be like, yeah we're screwed.

"maybe cow melons, real melons taste too good to leave for the beasts"

dude, were do you think the pumpkin pie innards come from? the pumpkin factory?
fine.... once me and dad filled a quaker oatmeal container with water. it still had a little bit of dry oatmeal at the bottem. one shot with a .22 LR and the container blew up like a rocket and spewed outmeal all over.
now does anyone have objects to shooting oatmeal? *laughing so hard she can barley type*

"What is the spirit of the bayonet?"

"The spirit of the bayonet is to kill!"

"What makes the grass grow?"

"Pumpkin makes the grass grow!"

im not sure if i should be offended for being compaired to a marine, seeing that my family is a Navy family!
Don't be offended. When Chuck Norris goes to bed, he checks under the bed for the Gunny. The Gunny is the only man who can stop a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick and turn it back on the sender. Chuck Norris would consider being compared to Gunny Ermey to be a high honor.

:D

Hi Annoyed Man,

Are you really sure you want to get into interservice rivalries here? If you insist I know an SF O4 that insists Marines not be tested because when you beat the **** out of them all that is left is hot air and that's contributes to global warming.

Officer's Wife,

Heh, heh. That was fun. Actually, I have a HUGE appreciation for ALL the services, including the Coast Guard, which so often gets overlooked. BTW, I never actually served in the armed forces myself. My lottery number in 1970 was 339, and I was one of those war protesters who hadn't yet figured out what love of country means. By the time I actually thought that the military might have been GOOD for me, I was too old to serve. I've done what I can since to try and make up for it. Whenever I see someone in uniform, I go out of my way to thank them for their service. I promote programs in support of the military on my website, and I've initiated discussions with the local USO at DFW to host a Bible study for service people passing through on leave or on return to overseas. It's not as good as having actually served, but it's what I can do now.

God bless 'em all, including and particularly your SF04.

I'm just a fan of Ermey's, and I think he's hugely entertaining.
