I've recently finished up building an AR pistol. And while shooting it the other day i thought to myself "For somthing that makes this much racket it really should be chambered in a larger caliber".
Later i mentioned this to my younger brother to which he replied jokingly "Why not get it chambered for .50 BMG"?
My first instinct was to smack him up side the head for being smart. But then i got to thinking. I know i couldnt do .50 BMG and still keep my face. But .50 Beowulf might work.
The way i see it if i get a shortened .50 Beo Barrel, one about 7-10 inches long, i could rebarrel the upper and have a .50 cal handgun.
I would leave the gas system out, that would simplify things and make it a strait pull bolt gun.
Problem is, what would recoil be like?
What do you guys think? This idea have some merit?
