500 Magnum Pistol Brass Correction To Use LR Primers

Brass manufacturers are recommending "Standard Large Rifle Primers "in all new cases that are marked with a "R" after the "Mag" on head stamp to signify rifle pocket. If you have previously purchased 500 cases without "R" on head stamp and wish to modify, you can use a large rifle pocket uniformer to deepen primer pocket to accept large rifle primers by deepening pocket approximately .006". This will not affect integrity of case. Hope this tidbit maybe helpful to someone else as it was to me

That's really VERY old news. Actually, the newer cases don't have the R and are made for large rifle primers. In addition, you can seat large rifle primers in large pistol primer pockets and they'll work fine even without deepening the pockets.

With that large a case, and the quantity of powder involved. I use mag large rifle primers.

I didn't know new 500 brass does not have the "R" any longer? First I've heard of it.
