Anyone know where I can find some round ball ammo in the 55 cal range? I got an indian made repro 2 band enfield, but its smoothbore at .55 instead of rifled at .58. I can't seem to find anything. And for that matter with a patch should I just got with the largest .54 ball I can find?

Thanks

It's important to get a precise measurement at the muzzle.
Many smoothbore shooters load balls that are .020 under size for easier loading with a fouled barrel.
But for the best accuracy then load balls that are .010 under bore diameter.
But then there will be the need for more frequent swabbing between shots which also depends on the amount and type of powder being loaded.
Track of the Wolf has an extensive variety of round balls sizes.

They even have .550 round balls:

You may find that either a .530" or .535" RB with a typical .010"-.015" patch may work just fine (.530" with a .010" patch = .550"). Remember there are no grooves in that bore to get filled with the patch material so you're going to get a snugger fit, I 'discovered' this when I started shooting my .44 caliber smoothbore flintlock Mortimer pistol.
