I should have my Parker Hale 1861 model musketoon by tomorrow afternoon.

I have been reading all sorts of threads about how they are picky about which type of Minie bullet they like to shoot.

So I was hoping to find a place where I can buy maybe 25 of each type before buying a new mold.

Yes I know about Dixie Gun Works and Track of the wolf. But for some reason they want to charge me more for shipping than the darn lead costs in the first place. Almost $40 in shipping is pure BS when I can send a small priority box via mail anywhere in the USA for $10.

SO,,, any ideas ???

I wonder how a patched round ball would shoot out of the Enfield style rifling.?

I tried patch round balls in my musketoon. Didn't shoot well at all. Buy a mould.

I have the Parker-Hale minie ball mould that came with the rifle musket. I think it was made by Redding for them.

I would suggest dropping a line to Pat.

He has been a big help in assisting me find what my muskets like. Aside from haviving a huge number of molds on hand, he will lube and size the minies to your specs.

+1 for Pat.

I would recommend trying the Lyman old style Minnie and the RCBS Hodgdon. Forget the round ball...

Try going on the North South skirmish association site. They have a wonderful forum with tons of info on all the rifle muskets
