Is it a 590A1? I thought the A1 had the ghost ring sights. Make sure it is stamped 590A1 on the receiver. There's a difference between the 590 and the 590A1.

IF YOU liked it, and you paid your money, then it was a good deal...........whether someone else in another part of the country might have gotten it for a few dollars less, it doesn't matter.........it only matters what you paid in your neighborhood and whether you like it

There are many different configuaration of 590A1s.

They dont all have GR sights. They do all have heavy walled barrels, metal trigger group, metal safety, and most importantly as is noted earlier it will say 590A1 in big lettering on the receiver.

The reason this is brought up is because the 590 SP looks just like a 590A1 without closely inspecting it. The SP will have a plastic trigger guard and safety, as well as a thinner (or what looks standard) barrel.

The SPs will run a few dollars less than the A1 but are still a nice gun but without the militarized features.

The 590A1 can be had with GR, rifle or bead sights.

To the OP-

Good price. I bought a 590SP for the price you paid and spent an additional $200 or so "upgrading" it an A1; All because I was too impatient to wait the many months it would have taken me to buy a brand new A1, locally speaking. Oh well...I still love the gun.

Also, if this guy did end up with "simply" a 590 Special Purpose, then all the parts are available in order to turn this gun in to a 590A1. All that would be missing is the "official" stamp.
