I own a rifle that was built in the 1970s/1980s for a rather affluent lawyer in my county.

He died and estate was sold and this rifle was bought in 2016 for the price of $200 due to the auctioner proclaiming no ammo was ever made nor existed and was useless.

The rifle is a 1903 with a English walnut stock and sporter profile barrel. Very professional crafted.

It came with dies and 50 rounds of formed 30-06 brass.

I am clueless as to load data as no book seems to have it, that is what I have never loaded.

Do I start at 6.5x55 swede and load up or what?

What powder is optimal for this cartridge?

What is an ideal bullet weight, 140 grains?

Does actual load data exist?

I also assume the projectile is .264 diameter.

I would download GRT and play with it just to see what it says. Based on the case size 270 and 280 load data should show you powders that are in the right burn rate.
