Hi,

Has anyone here built a 6.5 AR rifle? I am looking to build a custom AR. I am interested in using a monolithic upper. I am pretty much set on using the Mega Machines / Mega Mega Arms paired upper and lower. I am looking to build something with a 20 inch barrel. I also want a muzzle brake.

What are your thoughts on barrel manufacturers?

I have looked at Satern Machine, Wather Lother, Sabre Defence and Les Baer. Should I be concerned with button rifling versus cut rifling? I am a bit concerned with Satern as I can't get them on the phone to discuss their product. I hear they make a great product however. I spoke with Lothar and they can make me a fluted barrel, but the chamber is 6.5 CSS. They can also flute the barrel. Sabre can make a similar barrel but they use button rifling. Les Baer can make a 20 inch barrel with cut rifling in .264 but it won't be fluted or threaded for a muzzle brake.

The rifle would be used for long shooting on Coyotes and other predators. I already own an AR in .204 Ruger with a 24 inch barrel. I am looking for something to compliment the .204. I also want something that might be a little lighter for carrying purposes. The .204 has a Magpul PRS stock. I think I would go with an Ace Skeleton stock on the Grendel

Please let me have your thoughts.

I am actually working toward a Grendel as my next AR build, just tagging along to see what advice you get.
