Looking for load data to clone the hornady black with 123 grain eld. Any help? Of course I’ll decrease lid and work up to suggested data. Thanks!

I can’t help you with a clone of the “Black” line but it’s the worst thing I have fired out of mine. The tan box stuff was pretty good but the black I had was all over the place.

Enough so, a friend and I were taking turns, keeping an eye on the brass hitting the ground, as we shot. After a couple of strings he asked me, “how did that Last one shoot?” I told him, “not as good as the others.” Then he pointed out the fact that “this pile” are the ones you shot right before and “these, these, those over there and that one were from that last box.”

I’ve had the same results!

Wow I’m sorry to hear the experiences. I built a budget ar from discounted parts sourced from date I say Delta Team Tactical and right out of my shop it was sub Moa @225 yards after a brief break in with wolf military classic. 1.5” groups of three on steel. Now I hadn’t gone any further on grouping bigger group on paper As these results were amazing considering I had under 550.00 into the build (minus glass)

@Varminterror in my Grendel I’ve found that she prefers benchmark by a wide margin!

Good call. A good forum friend of mine, now passed, used to swear by Benchmark in Grendel and SPC. I can’t say I have ever been disappointed by Benchmark, but it’s often a powder I kind of neglect. I should stock more of it.

I found that my BCA 24" Grendel shot the 123s better at the lower end and lighter bullets at the upper end. I was using H335. The Hornaday I shot was so-so, neither best nor worst, I would load a ladder from a book load, 5ea of different loads and 5 loads from low to high and see which your gun likes. There was a big difference at 200yrds between my best and worst, 1.2" to 3.5"

8208 is also my go to powder for 120 and 123 grain bullets. I’ve shot it out to 300 yards with great success.

I’ve never tried Benchmark, but may after reading Horseman’s post. If I can ever find it
