Has anyone put a 6.5 PRC in a Remington 700 long action? I know SAAMI specs call for it to be 2.955", however, considering that is right on the cusp of being too long for a short action and I will only be using monolithic projectiles which are inherently longer than lead core bullets I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this configuration? I would prefer to use a Defiance XM or other intermediate/medium length action, but, I dont want to use Manners or McMillan stocks which severely complicates this particular build.
I'm waiting on dies and an email response from a gunsmith I've been working with to figure out my actual C.O.A.L. A crude estimate though is I think the C.O.A.L. will be about 3.05" if I can get a throat reamer or custom cartridge reamer from PT&G. This just seems to be the easiest route to getting this cartridge in a rifle that I want. I know Wyatt's offers some solutions, but, that requires more machining of a short action and again this may just be simplest.
