The 6.5 WWH had a strong following among the technical writers at Guns & Ammo of the time. (Yes, G&A was once a reasonably technical publication.)
They found that with the powders of the day - mostly H570 and H870 extra slow Ball - that you could not get through a typical Long Range match of 20 rounds plus sighters without the barrel fouling out. It would shoot a brilliant ten shot string and then go to pieces. They reported fouling so heavy and stubborn that it could not be removed, ruining the barrel.
