I inherited a custom rifle chambered in the 6.5x270, German Mauser action, and need a source for ammunition and/or brass. This gun was built for my grandfather by his friend and gunsmith, Keith Stegall of Gunnison, Colorado. I have so many fond memories of Keith and his wife Manette, he was a true gentleman and artist. I have the RCBS dies, labelled 6.5 Stegall, and two boxes of ammunition. Any information on this caliber and/or ammunition would be appreciated, thank you.

You will have to make your own brass by running .270 Win cases in the 6.5x270 sizing die you have.

It is such a simple small change (.013") in neck diameter it will be no different then re-sizing .270 brass to .270.

Keith Stegall was one of the most famous & highly regarded custom stock makers of his time.
But you probably already know way more about him then I do.

Here is a fine tribute to him.

Welcome to THR, DrRDB.

I'm fairly sure that 6.5-06 data can be used interchangeably with your 6.5 Stegall chambering. I just am not sure if it is an "improved" chambering or not.

www.hodgdon.com has current data for the 6.5-06 at their site.

It would be interesting if you could post some pictures of your rifle.
