Thank you all for the responses and wonderful photos!! I have the Carbine which is an Oberndorf, and the Rifle is a Carl Gustav. I do have reloading equipment, but I don't have the space to set it up. Also, my better half and I are disabled, so we cannot get around like we used to. Provided I could set up my equipment, I'd like to have a dedicated space for it, like a shed or spare room. I plan on hunting with both 6.5's, in the future after I get some ammo through the optic wearing M-96, and figure out the peep sight {Lyman} on the Carbine.
Here in Pennsylvania, the hills abound with deer, and I have to take it slow anymore to scale them. But I plan on using them for white tail deer and your occasional song dog's, even some woodchucks too. My main go to rifle is a sported M-1917 Enfield .30-06 that I've had for many moons. It has an optic on it as well. I have many other rifles, carbines in other calibers as well.
I learned a lot as a child growing up about the old military surplus guns and took the advice of those elder gents, they never steered me wrong. When the P.A. Game Comm. said they were going to allow semi automatic firearms to hunt with, I was hoping they would let us use the M-1 Garand which I own as well, but that was shot down in flames, too.
