6.8 SPC here to stay?

You know, I've run a few hundred rounds through my M&P15T and have seriously wondered why all the fuss to switch to something "bigger". After watching 5.56 rip across the range I for one would certainly NOT want to get hit by one of those things, no less 30 of them!

The 6.8SPC is nice, but requires a different bolt and magazine. J.D. Jones and company have the ticket in the 6.5MPC. http://www.sskindustries.com/6_5mpc.htm
I don't know why this one hasn't taken off. It's just the 5.56 case necked up to 6.5mm. Same mags, same bolt, same feed system on the M249...just a barrel swap (maybe a buffer swap), and you're good to go. Aside from a write-up in one of the gunrags last year (can't remember which one), it's been a ghost. This looks like the real winner, if it ever becomes viable I'll be all over it like bad ergos on a Glock! :D

On an AR that still just means another upper receiver, same as Grendel or 6.8 Rem SPC (maybe save a little money with using a standard 5.56mm bolt and more with the mags). My guess would be the main problem is that a necked up 5.56mm case can't deliver the same performance the Grendel or 6.8 Rem SPC case can provide.
