Hello Everyone,

Is there anyone on the board who has some real world experience shooting the 6.8mm SPC in an AR-15?

What do you think of the new cartridge?

How is the accuracy with factory loadings?

Is it difficult to reload?

Who has the best components (e.g., magazines, barrels top halves, etc.) to convert an AR to the new caliber?

What is the best twist rate for a 6.8mm SPC barrel?

What is the best barrel length for this caliber?

I'm seriously considering buying or having a custom top half in this caliber made for my AR-15 and would like some real world advice beyond the rah rah marketing banter of the gun rags.

Thanks for the help.

i have shot one, they are very good, they are very loud. personally i would like to see the grendel 6.5 put into operation, but the problem there is with a saw conversion. the case is so short and stubby, the links could easily slip off, or mess up during saw operation. the round is superb though, and if any one knows what the bench shooters use for 500 plus yards competition, it almost allways is a 6.5 round. their b.c. and s.d. are just so darn good, the wind just doesnt move them as they travel.
you coudl try Armalite or barret, i think they both have the grendel and 6.8 bbl lenght really doesnt matter with that round, your fps is going to chand more than 200 fps between 2 to 4 inches of bbl. your twist is probably going to be the same or slower for this round, it is so good at "self stabilizing" once it leaves the bbl.
