A local shop has a 6" Colt Official Police in .22 LR and is asking $299. The finish is worn, one wooden grip panel is broken, but the gun locks-up tight. Is that a good price? The front sight is a full-hemisphere, generally making it an older gun. I have its companion in .38 Special, so it would make a good shooter for me if the price is right. Thanks for your input!

The .22 OP was marketed primarily to Police Depts. as the companion to the .38 as a way for the Depts. to practice fundamentals on a cheaper budget.

That price for me would be a no brainer pre-war or not if the gun itself did not look abused.
But you did just say worn. Lack of finish would not bother me. I think the grips can be found and if you get lucky there will be enough wood to fit them to the pistol.

Sounds like a good find. Congratulations!
