Found this advertisement on the Internet yesterday:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=47257

Went to my local Harbor Freight Store, presented the calipers to the clerk, and they rang up at $29.99. I told her they were advertised on the Internet for $9.99 so she told me to show her the advertisement and they were mine. I had to drive back home and printout the ad, drive back and show her the price. She said she needed the manager's approval because she had never seen them priced so low.

Anyway, she sold them to me and I couldn't be happier!!

Great deal. I bought the same ones when they were on sale for $15, and was happy with that. I use mine all the time. The big digital readout is easy on my old eyes. :)

If I plan on passing by a HF store I always check the internet for sales then print out a copy. If you order over the internet you don't get clipped with sales tax but there is a S&H charge. I bought one of the SS caliper models on sale for $15 and it has worked great; however, the batteries only last several months eventhough there is an auto off feature.

I bought the same exact pair from them less than a week ago. In the store they were marked $30 but rang up 17.

Some time back there was a thread on HF calipers constantly needing battery replacement.

Someone figured out the form-fitted case was actually turning them on in the case.

Punch a hole in the liner where the switch is located and the batteries last indefinitely.

Or so they said!

Good advice rc, I will have to go do that. They rate the batteries at a 1 year life span and include an extra.
